NameEasy (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the NameEasy website (the “Platform”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our Platform. We are committed to safeguarding your privacy and complying with applicable Indian data protection laws, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDPA”).
By accessing or using our Platform, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Platform.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Phone number: If you sign up using Phone OTP verification.
- Email address: If you sign up using Google OAuth.
- Authentication provider: The method you used to create your account (Phone OTP or Google).
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device and browser information: Browser type, operating system, device type, and screen resolution.
- Usage data: Pages visited, search queries entered, filters applied, names viewed, names shortlisted, and other interactions with the Platform.
- Analytics identifiers: Anonymous identifiers used by Mixpanel and Google Analytics 4 for product analytics and traffic reporting.
- IP address: Collected automatically by our hosting and analytics providers.
1.3 Information Stored Locally on Your Device
If you use the Platform without creating an account, we store your shortlisted names (up to 3) in your browser's localStorage. This data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. It will be lost if you clear your browser data.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Account creation and authentication: To create and manage your account, verify your identity via Phone OTP or Google OAuth, and maintain your session.
- Shortlist functionality: To save, retrieve, and manage your shortlisted baby names across sessions and devices.
- Product improvement: To understand how users interact with the Platform, which features are most used, and where users experience friction, so we can improve the product.
- Analytics and reporting: To track aggregate usage patterns, search trends, and filter usage for internal product decisions.
- Technical operations: To ensure the Platform functions correctly, monitor performance, and diagnose technical issues.
- Advertising and marketing: To serve advertisements on the Platform and on third-party websites or other media (such as social networking platforms). We may use your usage data, device information, and analytics identifiers to display relevant advertisements, measure ad performance, and work with advertising networks to deliver ads that may be of interest to you.
- Interest-based advertising: To enable our advertising partners and network advertisers to collect information about your browsing activity on the Platform and across other websites and apps, in order to serve you targeted advertisements based on your interests and online behavior.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
We process your personal data based on the following legal grounds under applicable Indian law:
- Consent: By creating an account or using the Platform, you provide consent to the collection and use of your data as described in this policy.
- Legitimate interest: We process certain data (such as analytics) to improve the Platform and ensure its security, which constitutes a legitimate interest.
- Contractual necessity: Processing your account data is necessary to provide the services you requested (shortlist management, persistent sessions).
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We may share your information with third parties as described below. This includes sharing data with advertisers and advertising networks to support the delivery of advertisements on the Platform and on third-party websites or other media (such as social networking platforms).
4.1 Service Providers
We share data with the following categories of service providers to operate and maintain the Platform:
- Supabase: Our database and authentication provider. Stores your account information and shortlist data. Servers may be located outside India.
- Twilio (via Supabase Auth): Delivers SMS OTP messages for phone-based authentication.
- Google (OAuth): Facilitates Google sign-in. We receive only your email address and basic profile information from Google.
- Mixpanel: Product analytics provider. Receives anonymized usage events and, after authentication, a user identifier for analytics continuity.
- Google Analytics 4: Traffic analytics provider. Receives standard web analytics data including page views and session information.
- Vercel: Our hosting provider. Processes web requests and may log IP addresses and request metadata.
4.2 Advertisers and Advertising Networks
We work with third-party advertising networks and advertisers to serve advertisements on the Platform and on third-party websites or other media (for example, social networking platforms). These third parties may collect or receive certain information about your use of the Platform, including:
- Device and browser information (device type, operating system, browser type, screen resolution).
- Usage data and browsing activity on the Platform (pages visited, search queries, filters applied, names viewed).
- IP address and approximate geographic location.
- Advertising identifiers and cookies placed by advertising networks.
- Interaction data with advertisements (impressions, clicks, conversions).
This information may be used by advertising partners to:
- Serve advertisements on the Platform and across third-party websites, apps, and social networking platforms.
- Deliver targeted or interest-based advertisements based on your browsing activity and inferred interests.
- Measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns.

Please note: Advertising networks may independently collect information about your activity through cookies, pixels, and similar tracking technologies placed on the Platform. These third-party technologies are governed by the respective privacy policies of the advertising networks.
4.3 Your Advertising Choices
You may opt out of interest-based advertising by:
- Adjusting the advertising preferences in your device settings (for mobile devices).
- Using industry opt-out tools such as the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) opt-out page or the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) opt-out page.
- Managing cookie preferences through your browser settings.
Please note that opting out of interest-based advertising does not mean you will stop seeing advertisements on the Platform. You will continue to receive non-targeted advertisements.
4.4 Legal Disclosures
We may also disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of NameEasy, our users, or the public.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with services. Specifically:
- Account data (phone number or email) is retained for the lifetime of your account.
- Shortlist data is retained for the lifetime of your account.
- Analytics data is retained according to the retention policies of Mixpanel and Google Analytics (typically 12–26 months).
- localStorage data is managed by your browser and persists until you clear your browser data.
If you request deletion of your account, we will delete your personal data from our active systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
6. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:
- All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using TLS/HTTPS.
- Authentication is managed through Supabase Auth, which implements industry-standard security practices.
- Access to production databases is restricted and controlled.
- Row Level Security (RLS) policies ensure that users can only access their own data.
While we strive to protect your personal information, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights
Under applicable Indian data protection laws, including the DPDPA 2023, you have the following rights:
- Right to access: You may request a summary of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to correction: You may request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
- Right to erasure: You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
- Right to withdraw consent: You may withdraw your consent to data processing at any time by deleting your account.
- Right to grievance redressal: You may raise a complaint with us or, if unresolved, with the Data Protection Board of India.

8. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Platform uses the following technologies:
- localStorage: Used to store anonymous shortlist data (up to 3 names) and session preferences. This is not a cookie and is not transmitted to our servers.
- Supabase session tokens: Used to maintain your authenticated session for up to 30 days.
- Mixpanel cookies/identifiers: Used for product analytics tracking.
- Google Analytics cookies: Used for traffic analytics (standard GA4 cookies such as _ga and _ga_*).
- Advertising cookies and pixels: Placed by third-party advertising networks to track your browsing activity, serve targeted advertisements, and measure ad performance. These may include cookies from Google Ads, Meta (Facebook) Pixel, and other advertising partners.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect certain functionality of the Platform.
9. Children's Privacy
The Platform is designed for use by adults (parents and family members) seeking baby names. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
10. International Data Transfers
Our service providers and advertising partners (including Supabase, Vercel, Mixpanel, Google, and third-party advertising networks) may process and store data on servers located outside India, including in the United States. By using the Platform, you consent to such transfers. We ensure that our service providers and advertising partners maintain adequate data protection measures consistent with applicable law.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or applicable law. We will post the updated policy on the Platform with a revised effective date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
